BUILDING COMMISSIONING AND RETROCOMMISSIONING PROJECTS
| John Mason Peck Hall, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville As an RCx provider approved by the Illinois Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC), CxE Group provided retrocommissioning services on this combination classroom and office facility of approximately, 134,500 square feet situation on four floors and divided into four wings. The RCx services consisted of an in-depth review of the energy usage and the current building use and issues related to the building envelope, the mechanical and control systems, and the lighting. Through manual calculations and energy modeling analysis software, CxE identified special energy cost reduction measures, including potential electric and natural gas incentives available through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Public Sector Energy Efficiency Program in the amount of $43,000. Annual utility cost savings of $55,00 were estimated, with project cost payback between 4 months and 5 years.

| Touchette Hospital, Centreville, Illinois Under a team formed by Sitton Construction Group, CxE Group provided retrocommissioning services sponsored by the Ameren Act on Energy Program for Touchette Hospital in Centreville, Illinois. This facility, built in 1955 and expanded and remodeled over the years, consists of about 139,400 square feet on four floors. CxE identified energy efficiency measures of $106,000 that provided a one-year payback, measures of approximate $35,000 with a two- to five-year payback, and additional measures that require a longer term investment.

| School District of Clayton-Clayton High School Addition CxE is providing independent commissioning services for the construction of a building addition to Clayton High School and commissioning of the existing power plant of the school to help the entire building function more efficiently. The new construction consists of 4 levels, 60,000 sq. ft. with Science and general classrooms, shop areas, offices, and vehicle storage. Construction began in February 2010 with substantial completion by August 2011. This project as proposed strives for a LEED Silver designation.
| Daniel Boone Building, City of Columbia CxE Group is providing independent commissioning services for this five-story city government facility of approximately 125,000 sq. ft. being constructed in three phases of expansion and renovation. The small first phase was completed in the summer of 2008; Phase 2 included a new construction portion completed early in 2010; and Phase 3 includes a major renovation of the existing historic building completed in the spring of 2011. This is a LEED NC project currently registered only and striving for Gold Certification.
| Hillsboro Treatment Center, State of Missouri CxE Group provided system analysis, bid documents, construction management and commissioning services for this energy saving equipment replacement and control system upgrade at a secure detention facility for youths.
| Cape Girardeau Social Security Administration Building This LEED certified facility provides office spaces and customer service areas for the Social Security Administration in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. This project includes roughly 10,000 sq. ft. on one level, and includes multiple air source heat pump systems, air-to-air heat recovery from the exhaust air to pre-treat outside air intake, and ceiling fans throughout the spaces to improve air circulation. Carbon dioxide sensors were provided to monitor occupancy levels, especially in more densely occupied spaces, with two level control of the heat recovery system.

| St. Louis Zoo Orthwein Animal Nutrition Center This unique LEED certified facility provides laboratory and office area, animal food preparation and education support services for the St. Louis Zoo. While not a large project, including roughly 18,000 sq. ft. spread over two levels, the unique combination of building uses has made this important facility a challenge for the design and construction team. The design team includes Fox Architects of St. Louis and William Tao & Associates as MEP engineer. The project was designed in 2005 and was occupied in June, 2007. CxE Group has provided LEED compliant commissioning services for this project. This project has received a LEED-NC Silver rating.
| Millipore Corporation – Building 15 Fit-out CxE Group provided independent commissioning services for this two story, office, research laboratory and production facility. This project was completed in summer, 2008, and is registered to achieve a LEED-CI Certified rating.

| Edward Jones Dome Convention and Stadium Facility Bob Towell served as mechanical and electrical engineering project manager for this project during design, and worked with Lillie & Co. to provide the commissioning services from 1995-1996. We continued to provide support to the owner and operator until 2001 when we moved on-site to manage the Design & Construction office for the facility as a contract service. For the next eight years we managed several million dollars a year in capital improvement funding to maintain and improve the facility, including limited design work, coordinating with outside consultants, and construction management for a variety of projects. At the same time we provided technical support to the operations and maintenance group, including a recommissioning program, numerous energy saving projects, and development of a preventative maintenance plan for all mechanical and electrical systems for the facility. We received a 1st place national ASHRAE Technology Award for this project.

| Thomas F. Eagleton Federal Courthouse, St. Louis, Missouri Bob Towell also served as the engineering project manager over the entire mechanical design team for a $200 million, 29 story, 920,000 square foot federal judicial facility while an employee of HOK, which was issued for construction in 1995. In 1999, we were hired by GSA to provide construction phase commissioning services for this St. Louis landmark. We should note that this project had an interesting construction history, which included firing the general contractor 75% of the way through the construction process. The various subcontractors were hired directly by GSA and continued to work on the project until available funding was exhausted. Unfortunately the project was still not complete. The first portion of our program included verification of all systems on the 6th Floor and above, and development of a list of outstanding issues on the lower levels that still needed additional work by appropriate contractors. Following a couple of funding cycles over a few years, we were able to see this commissioning project through to completion in early 2006.
